During the 1980's, a team of soil scientists surveyed and mapped the soils of Wexford County.  Their report provides information on soil textures, depth and color of soil horizons (layers), physical, chemical & engineering properties of the soils, as well as the suitability of each different soil type for agriculture, forestry, and building.

Paper copies of both individual pages of the soil survey as well as the entire soil survey book are available free of charge when you visit our office.  Alternately, you can view published soil surveys on-line for almost any location in the United States by visiting the Web Soil Survey.  There you will find instructions for how to define the area you would like soils information on, and for how to get specific, detailed reports for that area.

As always, please contact a member of our staff if you would like assistance with using either the paper or the web-based soil surveys.
